Job Description

Job Summary :
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of tasks related to patient care and follow-up. As a team member, the Medical Assistant will demonstrate knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the staff, patients, families and visitors of all age groups, while being sensitive to their culture and religious beliefs.
Job Responsibilities :
Prepare patients in a timely and appropriate manner and demonstrate a caring and compassionate attitude toward patients and staff Demonstrate the ability to access and assist patients in emergency situations Interviews patients, measure vital signs, including height, weight & BMI, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, allergies, review medication lists and document correct information in electronic medical record Collect specimens, do all approved CLIA waived testing Assist the provider as needed during exams, treatments and procedures Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies and maintain instruments Anticipates and prepares supplies needed for procedures to expedite patient care Clean dirty instruments and to properly prepare them for sterilization as applicable Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to provider Instruct patients on collection of any necessary samples and tests Perform phlebotomy when requested by RN or provider Perform EKGs when requested by provider Demonstrate ability to do Audiogram and Vision Tests Setting up suction and/or oxygen per provider request Assist with EPSDT exams and update form and Health Maintenance Information Complete Growth and Development Charts and Immunization Records (including MIIX) Do daily equipment checks (Ex - AED, Suction Machine, EKG, Oxygen, Sporox, Instruments, Etc.) Willingness to assist providers, nurses and the front office as needed Prompt in following the provider's orders Demonstrate flexibility in job duties Demonstrate appropriate documentation in the
EMR/EPIC
Demonstrate the knowledge to operate clinical equipment Effectively communicates with the provider and other staff Must be flexible and willing to float to other clinic locations as needed to support operational needs, ensure adequate coverage, and maintain quality patient care Adheres to infection-control policies using universal precautions at all times and PPE as appropriate Assist with medical record release and scanning as needed Completes the required IT/Security trainings prior to the deadline
Job Requirements :
Current Certification as a Medical Assistant Current Phlebotomy certificate One year of clinical work experience Current CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association Annual influenza vaccine Basic knowledge of clinical operations Basic knowledge of
ICD-10/CPT
codes Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times per policy Demonstrates skills in written and oral communication Ability to comprehend and perform duties with minimal supervision Ability to prioritize work and accept constructive criticism Ability to prepare reports and follow-up as necessary Schedule patient appointments internally and externally Must continuously listen, visualize and have dexterity and eye-hand coordination Must have full range of body motion Must frequently sit, reach, use both right and left forearm rotation, walk, stand, kneel and twist Must perform other tasks as assigned by the Providers, Directors, RN nurse manager or
