General Job Summary Assist medical provider with patient care activities as necessary. Focus on maintaining a positive work environment through healthy communication with both patients and coworkers. Responsibilities include taking vitals, diagnostic testing, performing EKGs, injections, updating electronic medical records and all other duties to assist Providers. Experience required. Education/Professional Experience/Skills High school diploma or equivalent required; Certified Medical Assistant or minimum of 2 years experience in physician office setting required Current CPR certification required Physical Requirements Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics to occasionally lift 30 pounds with or without the use of an assistive device. Occasional overhead reaching with or without assistive device is also required. Essential Job Responsibilities Patient care functions Responsible for assisting the physician in providing patient care activities including: Placing patients in exam rooms and preparing for exams and procedures Assisting in physical exams and procedures Assisting in collecting and documenting patient information Giving subcutaneous, intradermal and intramuscular injections at the direction of the physician Performing phlebotomy and assisting with lab work administration Reinforcing and providing patient education including verbal and written instructions and pamphlets Responsible for understanding and following the requirements, policies and procedures of all regulatory compliance programs including OSHA,CLIA and other regulatory plans Responsible for attending required educational programs related to regulatory functions and maintaining any necessary certifications or licensures Maintenance of logs and other documentation required by policy and procedure Sterilization of instruments using appropriate methodology including inspection, gross decontamination, autoclaving or other sterilization method, packaging as directed Maintenance and use of instrument cleaning equipment and reagents as directed Preparation of surgical rooms for procedures Maintenance and cleaning of rooms, equipment and supplies Scheduling patient appointments and procedures Calling in patient prescriptions at physician direction Ordering clinical supplies including medications and stocking rooms and supply closet as directed by Clinical Supervisor Attendance at meetings and in-services as required Documentation and charting in medical record Other duties as directed by Clinical Supervisor, Physician or Practice Manager Telephone triage and counseling with patients Informing patient of test results as appropriate Perform additional functions as required by supervisor
