Medical Assistant Duties Medical Assistant greets patients and prepares them for physician examination Obtains and documents vital signs, height, and weight Reviews and updates allergies, medications, immunizations, and medical history with the patient and parent Medical Assistant explains tests and procedures to patients Documents data obtained Screen patient for appropriate information and document pertinent information in the chart Medical Assistant records phone calls from patients/parents Maintain current and accurate documentation on each patient. Checks and restocks rooms with necessary supplies and ensures exam rooms are prepared for the day Medical Assistant assists physician/nurse practitioner with office and surgical procedures Medical Assistant performs intramuscular and subcutaneous injections when required Report lab results to patients and follow through with any physician instructions to patients for follow up or change in medication, including scheduling appointments when necessary. Medical Assistant answers requests from pharmacies for prescription refills, per physician's protocol. Performs venipunctures and prepare specimens and paperwork to submit to reference lab for testing, as directed by physician or midlevel. Perform Saturday clinic hours per rotation and on call Saturday's as needed. Medical Assistant may be required to perform other duties as requested by management.
