Pay is based on experience, certifications, and role responsibilities. The listed pay range is a general estimate and may not reflect the final offer. Job Summary In alignment with the mission of Wilkes Pediatric Clinic, the Medical Assistant provides clinical support to the practice and assists in the treatment of patients. This role functions as a member of the nursing team under the direction of a physician.
Hours Worked:
As posted Job Qualifications High school graduate required. Current national certification in Medical Assisting or an associate's degree in Medical Assisting preferred. One to two years of experience in a physician's office preferred. Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification required. Demonstrated skills and abilities in clinical areas, including office lab testing and patient care skills. Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Customer service-oriented attitude and behavior. Ability to work with limited supervision and make decisions based on established policies and procedures. Working knowledge of insurance requirements and regulations affecting registration requirements. Job Responsibilities Assist physician with patient assessments, examinations, and treatments. Document patient care observations and activities according to professional standards and procedures. Assist in emergency situations under the direction of a physician. Maintain patient and clinic confidentiality. Provide clinical triage and communication per protocol or physician instructions. Maintain immunization inventory in NCIR. Perform basic medical procedures under physician supervision (e.g., lab draws, dressing changes, immunizations, injections, medication administration). Prepare exam rooms and assist physicians with procedures. Maintain a clean, well-stocked patient care area in compliance with state and federal mandates. Keep inventory records, logs, and required documentation for CLIA, including specimen, maintenance, and daily/weekly/monthly logs. Perform CLIA-waived tests within the practice. Obtain and properly label specimens (throat, urine, stool, wound, and other body fluids). Attend required in-service training (CPR, Safety, Infection Control). Participate in identifying methods to improve patient care. Maintain continuing education units (CEUs). Demonstrate a positive customer service attitude. Complete other duties as assigned. Follow addendums as appropriate. Perform administrative and front office duties as assigned by the Office Manager (e.g., filing, referrals, scheduling). Assist coworkers whenever possible to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Pay:
$16.00 - $17.50 per hour
