Job Title:
Medical Assistant-Dermatology Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team. The role involves preparing exam and procedure rooms for Mohs micrographic surgery and other surgical and medical visits. You will assist the Mohs surgeon throughout the procedure stages, from preoperative care to postoperative care, ensuring efficient clinic flow and proper setup of procedural instruments. Responsibilities + Prepare exam and procedure rooms for Mohs micrographic surgery and other medical visits. + Assist the Mohs surgeon during all stages of the procedure, including preoperative care, tissue preparation, hemostasis, wound closure, and postoperative care. + Perform patient intake, including obtaining medical history, reviewing consent forms, and addressing preprocedure concerns. + Provide wound care instructions and educate patients on post-procedure expectations. + Process and handle tissue specimens for pathology evaluation according to protocol. + Ensure proper documentation of procedures, medications, MIPS, and follow-up instructions in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. + Schedule pre- and post-operative appointments and assist with patient inquiries. + Confirm patient insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations if required. + Accurately complete patient charting and documentation. + Manage pathology log and act as liaison between physician and patient to deliver pathology results. + Record required information in compliance logs and adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards. + Cross-train in the Mohs laboratory and potentially in General and Cosmetic Dermatology. + Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Skills + Proficiency in medical assisting and patient care. + Strong understanding of medical terminology, particularly in dermatology. + Experience with EMR systems, such as NextGen and EMA. Additional Skills & Qualifications + 1-2 years of recent experience in a dermatology or surgical setting preferred. + MA Certification preferred. Work Environment The role requires wearing solid color scrubs, any color except for specified ones, and typically includes a one-hour lunch break based on clinic flow. You will gain experience working within a specialty practice and utilizing two different EMR systems. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portsmouth, NH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
