Job Description
Position Summary The Medical Assistant supports the delivery of high-quality, client-centered care by performing clinical and administrative tasks in partnership with primary care and behavioral health teams. Reporting to the Primary Care Provider, this role plays a critical part in ensuring clients are treated with dignity and professionalism while receiving essential health services in a trauma-informed environment. Key Responsibilities Clinical Support Obtain and accurately record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiratory rate Perform phlebotomy and collect other diagnostic specimens, such as urine samples Conduct basic health screenings and support other clinical assessments as directed by medical staff Assist with medical procedures while maintaining infection control standards and client safety Client Interaction and Environment Create a welcoming, calm, and respectful environment for all clients Demonstrate empathy, patience, and professionalism in all interactions, especially with individuals experiencing substance use or mental health challenges Support a trauma-informed approach to care that promotes client autonomy and comfort Communication and Coordination Communicate clearly and effectively with healthcare providers, clients, and interdisciplinary team members Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation Uphold strict client confidentiality and comply with all healthcare regulations Training and Compliance Complete all required LifeHouse training courses, including: Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Incident Reporting Professional Boundaries Cultural Awareness and Competency Universal Precautions Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) Mental Health First Aid Additional assigned training related to clinical compliance and best practices
