As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide integrated medical, dental, and behavioral health services to historically underserved individuals and families throughout our community, including persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our outpatient clinic team. Bethpage, NY What You'll Do As a Medical Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting both patients and providers while helping ensure smooth daily clinic operations. Key Responsibilities Provide clinical and administrative support to providers and staff Assist with obtaining patient medical histories Support patient care within scope of practice Maintain accurate and detailed medical records Build positive rapport with patients to enhance the patient experience Deliver compassionate, respectful care to a diverse patient population, including persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) Follow standard safety practices and confidentiality procedures Assist with daily clinic workflow and operations Deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced healthcare setting What We're Looking For Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent AND either: Medical Assistant Certification, OR Two years of satisfactory experience assisting a medical doctor in patient examination and treatment Strong communication and organizational skills Friendly, professional, and compassionate demeanor Ability to multitask in a busy medical environment Comfortable using computers and Microsoft Office Suite Willingness to learn medical software systems Preferred Qualifications Bilingual Spanish Experience with medical records Experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD), behavioral health populations, or underserved communities preferred Who You Are You are: Patient-focused and empathetic Dependable and detail-oriented A strong communicator who enjoys helping others Comfortable working collaboratively in a healthcare team Adaptable in a dynamic outpatient setting Passionate about supporting diverse and underserved patient populations Apply Today If you're ready to build a rewarding career while helping improve access to quality healthcare in the community, we encourage you to apply.
