Responsibilities Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations by preparing exam rooms, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring all necessary supplies are available. Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to support accurate patient assessments. Perform clinical procedures including phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration, X-ray assistance, and basic wound care under supervision. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) by documenting patient histories, medical notes, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and updating medical records efficiently. Support patient intake processes by verifying insurance information, updating personal data, and explaining procedures to ensure a positive patient experience. Assist with laboratory tasks such as specimen collection and processing for diagnostic testing in accordance with safety protocols. Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas while adhering to infection control standards; handle medical documentation with precision and confidentiality. Collaborate with hospital teams in inpatient settings like ICU or trauma centers when needed, providing vital support for complex cases involving emergency medicine or surgical procedures. Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and ICD coding to accurately support clinical workflows. Proven experience in outpatient clinics or hospital environments with familiarity in dermatology, internal medicine, geriatrics, or medical-surgical settings. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records efficiently and securely. Skilled in performing phlebotomy, medication administration, vital sign measurement, and basic X-ray assistance. Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately across diverse populations. Ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments such as urgent care or Level I/II trauma centers. Knowledge of hospital medicine practices including inpatient care protocols and PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) procedures is a plus. Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications related to emergency medicine or advanced clinical skills are advantageous.
