Summary:
Ability to function in a fast-paced and complex clinical environment. Provides and assists with basic patient care activities in an urgent care practice, under the supervision of a licensed provider. Maintains and adapts to daily operations, interprets and executes provided instructions, and works reliably with professionalism in an urgent care environment. Ability to work schedule consistent with Urgent Care hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
1.
Formal Education Required:
a. Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program 2.
Experience & Training Required:
a. One (1) year related medical office experience; or externship; or associated experience or education 3.
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Knowledge of medical terminology. b. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and EMR. c. Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team. d. Maintain HIPAA confidentiality. e. Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients, families, and clinical co-workers in crisis or trauma situations. f.

Ability to travel between locations as needed. h. Required ability to handle bodily fluids and possible exposure to communicable disease. i. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. k. For SHMG (medical group) employees: Ability to obtain Basic Life Support certification within six months of hire with Summa Health and ability to maintain the BLS certification. l. Must pass yearly clinical skill competencies m. Ability to work weekends and holidays. n. May be requested to cover additional shifts or float to meet department operational staffing needs o. Ability to adjust work hours to meet business demands as required 4.
