PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION
Under the supervision of the Physician/Provider, assist in office duties, clinic processes, and coordination of Palliative Care clinical team scheduling, authorization, and managing documents.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Duty 1: Assists the management team and Medical Director in planning and developing interactions with the Palliative Care team for services appropriate to skill level and based on current industry standards to ensure exceptional patient care. Duty 2: Is able to identify the unique physical and emotional needs of each patient with the appropriate skill level. Duty 3: Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate regulatory agencies and is compliant. Duty 4: Maintains appropriate educational experiences for skill level. Duty 5: Coordinates office duties of the clinic to maintain patient and provider flow, such as: answering phones, completing electronic medical record software tasks and scheduling, assisting with patient insurance authorization, and checking patients in upon their arrival for appointments. Duty 6: Collaborates with providers regarding patient condition, orders, medications, treatment plan, and anticipated needs to ensure exceptional patient care. Duty 7: Anticipates needs of providers in regards to supplies and treatment room set-up, and assists the providers with patient care and communication in the treatment room as needed. Duty 8: Responsible for rooming patients, taking vital signs, and completing medication reconciliations within the scope of practice. Duty 9: Knows, understands and follows directions as given by the provider. Duty 10: Displays Service Excellence as evidenced by practicing the mission, vision, and values of the organization to promote patient satisfaction. Duty 11: Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School graduate or GED equivalent. Knowledge of office procedures and equipment Experience with chronic illness management, medications required for treatment, and Goals of Care conversations Typing and medical terminology experience required Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required. Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status. Must be able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area's policies and procedures
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous Medical Assistant experience (equivalent experience/education will be considered) Medical Assistant Certification
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting and standing. The associate will be required to walk for up to one hour a day, sit continuously for six hours a day and stand for one hour a day. The individual must be able to lift twenty to fifty pounds and reach work above the shoulders. The individual must have good eye-hand coordination and fine finger dexterity for simple grasping tasks. The individual must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. The individual must be able to operate a motor vehicle for business travel and community involvement. •This position is classified "at risk" for possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.)
