Job Description

Job Purpose:
Responsible for providing medical support to ensure the efficient operation of our organization. You will support and assist our nursing staff through a variety of tasks related to client care management. Essential functions, duties & responsibilities: Takes and record vital signs Provides health-related medical treatments under the direction of a nurse or physician Administers injections and medications under the direction of a nurse or physician Gathers data for medical and health-related purposes Participates in communication with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and non-licensed staff and managers Provides documentation in medical records Takes part in quality control activities Transports clients, when applicable Delivers and picks up medications, when applicable Participates in-home checks, checking for expired drugs, proper labeling, and storage Conducts various assigned staff in-services Responsible for MAR/TAR check Reviews IST/delegation sheet checks and compare to MAR Stays at the hospital with clients seeking medical treatment, when applicable Reinforces protocols and standing orders used by staff Checks medical equipment for maintenance needs to ensure efficiency Has the ability to be on call and follow algorithms and medical direction provided by nurse or physician Qualifications and specific job requirements Medical Assistant Degree Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures Excellent time-management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work Social perceptiveness and service-oriented Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and planning skills Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software
  • Must have all certifications required for employment by DoDD and renew them annually or as required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and perform physical assistance and intervention tasks.
  • Must have and maintain current driver's license and driving record according to insurance and regulatory requirements.
  • Must possess basic skills for following written and verbal instructions, and for communicating client- and job-related issues orally and in writing. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule as assigned to ensure the needs of the individuals are met.
  • Must adhere to all HIPAA regulations at all times.
  • Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws and TRS Policies and Procedures.
  • May be required to work variable scheduled days and hours, including holidays and weekends, and on-call, as needed.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing including participation in meetings and training, as required.
  • May be exposed to challenging behaviors that may cause injury and require intervention techniques.
  • May be exposed to infectious disease.
  • May be exposed to chemicals commonly found in the office, residential or workshop environment such as toner, cleaning substances, oil, etc.
