Join our team of Life Changers! UPMC is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to support the Women's Medical Mobile Unit team/office in Mechanicsburg . Job title and salary will be based on qualifications and career ladder requirements.
Shift/Hours:
Monday-Friday, daylight shifts from 7:30am
  • 4:00pm
  • OR•8:00am-4:30pm.
No weekends or holidays! Travel (up to 75%) will be required. Will be traveling on the women's health medical mobile unit; the remaining 25% the individual will be at the Mechanicsburg office/location.

Department/Role:
This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on women's health by supporting care delivery through our Women's Health Medical Mobile Unit. As part of an innovative outreach program, the Medical Assistant will help bring essential healthcare services directly to communities, expanding access to care for patients who may face barriers to traditional healthcare settings. In addition to supporting the Mobile Unit through patient registration, vital sign collection, medical record updates, and provider assistance, this role offers exposure to a variety of Women's Health specialties and practice locations. The position provides a dynamic work environment where no two days are the same, allowing team members to collaborate with diverse care teams, build a broad range of clinical skills, and play an important role in improving patient access and experience across the Women's Health service line. Flexibility, teamwork, and a passion for patient-centered care are key to success in this rewarding role.
Responsibilities:
Check schedules and organizing patient flow. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. Collect patient information/history, taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines. Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance. Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations. Prepare and clean patient, exam, and procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control. Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms. Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e.
OSHA, CLIA, PA
Department of Health). Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures. Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs. Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure. Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed. Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms/requisitions as needed. Schedule appointments. Prepare and managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately. Other front office responsibilities, as required. Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.
Medical Assistant:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.
Medical Assistant, Senior:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Successful completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT) OR successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT or NHA) OR at least 1-year prior patient care experience required. Must be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in three practice category specific tasks Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Act 34 UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
