Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our pediatric healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in patient care, clinical procedures, and administrative support, with a passion for working with children and their families. As a Medical Assistant in our pediatric practice, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming, supportive environment for patients of all ages while ensuring smooth clinic operations. This position includes assisting providers with well-child visits, sick visits, immunizations, and developmental screenings, as well as helping to educate and support parents and caregivers. You will also manage clinical workflows, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute to a positive experience for both patients and families. Responsibilities Assist providers with pediatric patient intake, including gathering accurate medical histories, documenting symptoms, and obtaining relevant information from parents or caregivers. Measure and record vital signs appropriate to the child's age (including height, weight, head circumference, temperature, pulse, and respiration). Prepare exam rooms for well-child and sick visits by ensuring proper sanitization, stocking age-appropriate supplies, and maintaining a child-friendly environment. Support providers during pediatric visits and procedures, including administering immunizations, and performing point-of-care testing. Accurately document patient information, immunization records, growth charts, test results, and treatment plans in the electronic health record (EHR) system. Assist with common pediatric diagnostic services, including specimen collection (e.g., strep, flu, RSV testing) and coordinating lab work. Maintain and manage vaccine inventory and medical supplies, ensuring proper storage, handling, and compliance with pediatric vaccine protocols. Provide exceptional, family-centered care by communicating clearly with both patients and caregivers, helping children feel at ease, and addressing questions with compassion and professionalism. Support clinic flow for a high-volume pediatric practice, assisting with both well visits and acute care needs across all pediatric age groups (newborn through adolescence). Follow all safety, infection control, and pediatric care protocols, including immunization guidelines and clinic-specific policies to ensure a safe environment for children and families. Qualifications Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program is required; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) are highly preferred. Prior experience working in pediatric medicine is preferred but we are willing to train the right canidate. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medication administration protocols. Familiarity with EHR systems and proficiency in managing medical documentation accurately. Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate patient care while supporting medical staff effectively. Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments. Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail in managing intake processes and vital signs documentation.
Pay:
