Job Description

Advanced Southern Gastroenterology is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our growing team. The Medical Assistant will play a key role in supporting providers and ensuring high-quality patient care within our gastroenterology practice. The ideal candidate is organized, patient-focused, and experienced in both clinical and administrative duties. Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) is preferred. Responsibilities Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and medication information. Prepare patients for examinations and procedures. Assist providers during patient visits and clinical procedures. Document patient information accurately in eClinicalWorks (eCW). Review laboratory and diagnostic results as directed by providers. Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, and follow-up appointments. Verify patient information and insurance details. Educate patients regarding procedures, medications, and treatment plans. Process prescription refill requests under provider supervision. Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and clinical equipment. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and infection control standards. Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and office staff to provide exceptional patient care. Qualifications Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred. Previous Medical Assistant experience required. Gastroenterology experience preferred but not required. Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
