Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Front Desk Medical Assistant to serve as the first point of contact for our patients. Speaking Spanish is a MUST!!! This vital role involves managing patient intake, coordinating appointments, and supporting clinical staff with administrative and basic medical tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, medical administrative support experience, and a solid understanding of medical terminology and patient service protocols. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in procedures efficiently. Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and coordinate with clinical staff to ensure smooth operations. Collect patient histories, vital signs, and insurance information accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems. Assist with patient intake processes, including documenting symptoms and updating medical records. Support clinical staff by preparing examination rooms, handling specimen collection, and assisting with basic procedures such as X-ray or medication administration when necessary. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with healthcare regulations and hospital policies. Perform administrative duties such as answering phones, managing correspondence, and ensuring the clinic remains organized and welcoming. Skills Knowledge of dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, outpatient clinics, and emergency medicine settings. Experience with EHR systems and medical coding including ICD coding for accurate documentation. Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology principles, and medication administration protocols. Strong patient service skills with the ability to handle intake procedures efficiently while demonstrating empathy. Previous hospital or Level I/II trauma center experience is advantageous; familiarity with inpatient settings such as PICU or Geriatrics is a plus. Ability to support medical-surgical procedures and assist in clinic environments that include internal medicine or outpatient care. BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred; prior experience in X-ray or OR settings is beneficial but not required.
