Job Description

Medical Assistant Position Summary:
The MA assists the physician and mid-level practitioners in providing quality care as delegated. Under general supervision in an outpatient clinical setting, provides initial patient triage, registration, and administrative services. Assists with direct patient care, and performs specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated by established clinical protocol.
Qualifications:
A.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Certification or transcript of completion of a Medical Assistant course is required. B.
Training and Experience:
Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association upon hire or transfer to department. One year experience as Medical Assistant or clinical rotations in a clinic setting is preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) abilities desirable but not mandatory. C.
Job Knowledge:
Requires knowledge of examination, diagnostic, laboratory and treatment room procedures. Requires the ability to read, understand, and respond to detailed oral and written instructions. Must be able to read and write medical terminology, as well as possess the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Must be able to take and record vital signs, maintain records, and record results.
Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Full range of body motion including lifting and handling patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires correct vision and hearing to normal ranges. Occasionally lifts and carries up to 25 pounds. Requires working under stressful conditions and working irregular hours.
