Medical Assistant Certified Chesapeake Regional Medical Center - 2.9 Chesapeake, VA Job Details 1 day ago Qualifications BLS Certification High school diploma or GED Medical assisting Full Job Description Summary A Medical Assistant (MA) under the direct supervision of a physician or Advance Care Practitioner. Decisions are limited to defined parameters around work expectations, quality standards, priorities, policies and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis by Medical Assistance. Any other duties as needed to drive to the vision fulfill the mission and abide by the values of the organization. Responsible for rooming patients and prepare them for examination Takes patients vital signs which include blood pressure, height, weight and documents in EMR Updates patient medical record including medications, allergies, past medical & surgical history Preps procedure room for minor procedure and assist with those procedures as needed. Prepares exam rooms for provider dependent on appointment type. Cleans exam room and beds after each appointment and restocks medical supplies daily. Assist physician and Acute Care Providers with patient examinations. Draws blood, perform
EKG, SWAB
test and any additional clinical test within clinic. Manages Physician orders by submitting to appropriate departments such as imagining, labs, scheduling surgeries, of referral to specialist. Confirm all orders are completed and that results have been returned. Obtain Prior Authorizations as needed. Able to check in patients, register patients, verify insurance, scan documents in patient charts, answer phones, return phone calls, and schedule appointments. One year of Medical Training Preferred but not required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Medical Assistant Certification. American Heart Association BLS certification upon hire or within 90 days of start in position.
