Job Summary This position plays a critical role in supporting Augusta Health's mission and advancing departmental goals through measurable performance indicators and service excellence. This position contributes to a collaborative, patient-centered environment and helps drive outcomes aligned with organizational priorities. Under the supervision of the Office Manager, the Administrative Assistant performs duties as assigned that include communication, reception, secretarial and operational for the Neurology Clinic, while serving as the liaison between the patient, other staff, and the physician. Initiates implementation of processes and/or has access to all operational components of the office as required by daily operations. Essential Job Duties Performs basic support functions to ensure efficient operation of the area such as: answering phones, directing calls and taking messages copying, scanning faxing and/or emailing documentation ordering and/or restocking supplies and forms as needed preparing, receiving, sorting, and distributing mail and other delivered items to providers and staff w/ any certified mail requirements. maintaining office equipment as needed ensuring any issues with office equipment utilized are identified and addressed w/ knowledge of repair process. Gathering and entering a variety of patient and/or staff information by pulling, preparing, logging and/or filing patient information; maintaining departmental records and files as directed Participates in maintaining front end operational flow of the practice in daily work. Ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and interpret the information needed to identify each patient's requirement relative to his/her age specific needs as they relate to the staff position. No breaches in confidentiality. Observed to call patient by correct name. Maintains patient privacy. Demonstrates skill in interpersonal relationships. Appropriately answers questions and provides information and assistance. Appropriately handles inquiries and takes command of the situation to direct the course of events. Assumes responsibility for personal development, identification of developmental needs. and initiates or identifies activities for formally developing skills. Is observed to make good use of time. Produces accurate work for check in and check out processes of the patient visit. Completes patient scheduling process accurately Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care according to the age of the patients served, including principles of growth and development over the patient's life span as it relates to the staff position. Communicates well with all age groups. Knowledgeable about practice process as it relates to patient and staff communication. Observes the outcome of process and identifies problem and recommends alternative. Participates in educational and training programs as presented. Timely, efficiently and accurately participates in oral and written communication with patients and staff. Willingly and efficiently participates in performing secretarial duties as assigned. Previous experience doing similar duties. Medical Assistant training or equivalent of two years physician practice experience preferred. Coding experience preferred. Prior experience in a hospital, healthcare system, or related service-oriented environment Familiarity with Augusta Health's systems, workflows, or organizational culture is a plus Previous experience doing similar duties.
