Certified Medical Assistant Full Job Description Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of patient care, medical procedures, and administrative support within various clinical settings. This role offers the opportunity to work in dynamic environments such as outpatient clinics, hospital medicine units, urgent care centers, and specialized departments including dermatology, geriatrics, and emergency medicine. The Certified Medical Assistant will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient service while supporting healthcare providers with clinical and administrative tasks.
Duties:
Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms. Measure and record vital signs accurately and efficiently. Prepare patients for examinations and procedures in accordance with clinical protocols. Support physicians and nurses with medication administration, injections, and basic life support when necessary. Operate and maintain EHR systems to ensure precise documentation of patient information. Assist with ICD coding for billing and record-keeping purposes. Provide exemplary patient service by addressing questions, explaining procedures, and ensuring comfort throughout visits. Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas in compliance with safety standards.
Requirements:
Valid certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program. Experience in dermatology or medical-surgical units is a plus. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, ICD coding, and medication administration protocols. Familiarity with EHR systems and medical administrative support functions. Basic life support (BLS) certification required. Strong patient service skills with a compassionate approach to care delivery. Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and effective teamwork. Ability to multitask is recommended.
