The Front Desk Receptionist/Medical Assistant for Mountain Spring Podiatry's Norfolk location is the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and vendors entering our medical offices. This role is crucial in creating a welcoming and professional environment while efficiently managing the flow of patients and handling administrative tasks. This role is responsible for ensuring that patient check-ins, scheduling, and inquiries are handled promptly and accurately, contributing to a positive experience for all who interact with our practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet patients, visitors, and vendors in a friendly and professional manner while providing exceptional customer service throughout the patient visit. Manage patient check-in and check-out, including verifying demographic and insurance information, collecting payments, scheduling follow-up appointments, and providing necessary paperwork and instructions. Schedule patient appointments, tests, and treatments while coordinating with clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow. Answer and direct phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and provide information regarding office services. Escort patients to exam and procedure rooms and prepare them for examinations, treatments, and procedures. Obtain and document patient vital signs, report abnormal findings to the provider, and accurately record patient information in the electronic health record (EHR). Assist providers during examinations and procedures by preparing treatment rooms, instruments, supplies, and patients. Educate patients on procedures, aftercare, medications, and follow-up instructions while providing support and reassurance during treatment. Maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and the front office by cleaning, restocking, sterilizing equipment, and ensuring supplies are readily available. Collaborate with providers and administrative staff to ensure efficient office operations and high-quality patient care. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and other applicable healthcare regulations. Travel to all practice locations as assigned or needed. Qualifications HS diploma or equivalent required 2+ years of experience working in outpatient setting handling receptionist/front desk duties Previous medical assistant experience preferred Experience with Athena EHR preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications Must be detail oriented and able to multitask Must have ability to prioritize and work both independently and as part of a team Willingness to cross train and assist in clinical duties
