Job Description

About Us Medical Associates of Richmond is a growing multidisciplinary pain management practice specializing in interventional procedures, musculoskeletal medicine, and patient-centered care. Our team includes experienced physicians and advanced practice providers dedicated to helping patients improve function and quality of life. We are seeking a professional, compassionate, and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our patients. Position Overview The Medical Receptionist plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and organized clinical environment. This individual will manage front-desk operations, coordinate patient scheduling, support insurance and billing processes, and ensure efficient patient flow in a fast-paced specialty clinic. Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Experience & Front Desk Operations Greet patients warmly and professionally Check patients in and out efficiently Verify insurance eligibility and benefits Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments Answer and triage incoming phone calls Maintain strict HIPAA compliance Administrative & Insurance Support Obtain prior authorizations for procedures and imaging Process referrals and coordinate with referring providers Scan, upload, and maintain accurate patient documentation in EMR Manage incoming/outgoing faxes and medical records requests Assist with disability forms, procedure scheduling paperwork, and follow-ups Clinic Flow & Team Support Prepare patient charts prior to visits Communicate schedule changes and patient concerns to clinical staff Support procedural scheduling (injections, nerve blocks, etc.) Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front-office environment Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Receptionist experience is a preferred Experience in pain management, orthopedics, neurology, or primary care is a plus Knowledge of insurance verification and prior authorizations preferred Familiarity with EMR systems Strong multitasking and communication skills Professional demeanor with a patient-centered mindset Ideal Candidate Traits Empathetic and compassionate toward patients experiencing chronic pain Highly organized and detail-oriented Comfortable in a fast-paced specialty clinic Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills Able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Why Join Our Team Supportive, collaborative environment Opportunity to grow within a specialty practice Competitive compensation based on experience Stable and expanding practice in
