Part-time, Day shift, Varied days per week, no weekends The Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) Obstetrics, Gynecology & Midwifery Services team is seeking a highly motivated and outgoing Certified Medical Assistant to join the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and excellent communication and organizational skills. The team is seeking an individual who can build rapport with patients, is a self-motivated team player, can handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and is flexible. If you are friendly, adaptable, and can work effectively under the supervision of providers, you will excel in this role, performing both clinical and administrative duties to contribute to the safe and quality care of patients. This position will involve a mix of administrative and clinical responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Flow Management:
Greet and admit patients efficiently, record health history intakes, obtain vital signs and screenings, review medications/allergies, and maintain timely patient flow while communicating any delaysClinical Procedures & Assistance:
Assist providers with in-office procedures, ultrasounds, and surgical coordination; perform delegated tasks including injections and Point of Care testing; maintain and clean patient equipment following established protocolsCommunication & Scheduling:
Answer and triage phone calls, schedule appointments, process prescription refill requests, relay provider instructions to patients, and manage electronic workload by completing tasks in the EHR systemCompliance & Safety:
Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA standards, collect and handle specimens properly, stock and disinfect patient care areas, work within the scope of delegation, and prioritize patient safety Required Qualifications High School Graduate with an active CMA, CCMA, or RMA certification and current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required. Minimum one year of experience in a hospital or medical office setting with demonstrated computer proficiency and medical terminology knowledge. Strong communication skills, ability to handle multiple priorities under stress, and physical capability to lift patients and handle medical equipment.
