Many of our patients come to us with complex conditions and high expectations because they've struggled to find solutions elsewhere. As an optometric technician, you play a central role in their care. You prepare patients for their exam, gather the clinical data the doctor needs and help patients feel informed and supported throughout their visit. This is a hands on clinical position where your curiosity and attention to detail truly matter. You'll learn specialty tests, advanced imaging, myopia management protocols, dry eye diagnostics and how to assist in fitting medical and specialty contact lenses. If you enjoy working directly with patients and want to be part of a team that provides care beyond what's typically offered in a standard eyecare clinic, this role is a great fit. We believe in meaningful work and a balanced life. Our clinic operates Monday through Friday only because we protect weekends for family time and personal time. Our typical schedule is 8:40 to 5:15. We offer paid time off that accrues at .05 hours for every hour worked, which comes out to two hours of PTO for every 40 hours. After the probationary period, you also receive paid holidays. At our core, we exist to enrich people's lives so they can reach their full potential. As a technician, you help make that mission real every time you guide a patient through their visit. Responsibilities Clinical Pretesting and Patient Care Greet patients and guide them through the clinical portion of their visit Perform a full range of pretesting including auto-refraction, tonometry, visual fields, retinal imaging, and many many more. Administer binocular vision testing and assist with dry eye evaluations as trained Document all findings accurately in the EHR Communicate clearly with patients about each test and why it matters Recognize when a patient needs extra support or reassurance Specialty Care Support Assist with myopia management visits, including axial length measurements and treatment education Support dry eye diagnostics and treatments such as meibography and tear assessments Help with specialty contact lens fittings including scleral lenses, ortho-k and other custom designs Learn and follow specific protocols unique to specialty care Exam Room and Provider Support Prepare exam rooms and ensure equipment is clean and working properly Assist the doctor during specialty procedures when needed Maintain strong awareness of clinic flow to help minimize delays Communicate effectively with the provider about patient findings and concerns Administrative and Clinical Coordination Update patient records and ensure accurate charting Support front desk team members as needed during peak times Manage inventory of clinical supplies Maintain a clean, organized and patient ready environment Skills & Qualifications Required Strong communication skills and a patient centered approach Comfort with technology and learning new clinical equipment Ability to follow detailed protocols with accuracy Organized and reliable with steady follow through Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA standards A genuine interest in healthcare and helping people Preferred Experience as an optometric technician, ophthalmic technician or medical assistant Familiarity with retinal imaging, visual fields, pretesting or specialty lenses Understanding of basic medical and vision terminology Prior experience in a specialty or medical setting Personal Qualities That Help You Succeed You stay calm and focused even when the clinic is busy You enjoy problem solving and learning new clinical skills You communicate with clarity and kindness You take pride in accuracy and high quality patient care You like being part of a team that supports one another We are willing to train the right person If you bring a can do attitude, curiosity and a strong work ethic, we're happy to teach you the clinical skills.
