Senior Medical Assistant-Certified Senior Medical Assistant:
This 0.6 FTE/Part-time position is scheduled to work 12-HR variable shifts.Compensation:
Non-Exempt, pay range $28.91/HR- $41.

Job Summary:
The Senior Medical Assistant excels at performing all aspects of the Medical Assistant & Medical Assistant-Certified roles. Additionally, under the direction of clinic manager/supervisor, the incumbent also serves as an informal leader with additional responsibilities and certifications related to clinic/department, and it is a mentor/resource to new, existing staff, and students due to demonstrated high levels of job knowledge, excellent interpersonal skills, mastery of the position and excellent customer service practices. The Senior Medical Assistant is a change agent, quality ambassador, EMR expert, and is crossed trained and willing to work in different departments and clinics.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior MA performs all aspects of the Medical Assistant-Certified roles including but not limited to managing the flow of patients, prepares patients, instruments, and rooms for examinations or procedures by a physician, takes initial patient history, accurately documents vital signs and complaints in the patient s medical record and assist physicians with examinations and procedures Performs phlebotomy and necessary laboratory testing; or prepares specimens and orders outside laboratory testing. May performs radiological exams and EKG procedures, as ordered by the physician Calls or faxes in prescriptions and handles physician s call back on patient test results as directed. Monitors and maintains equipment in good working order. Audits and maintains medical stock, drugs, and medical supply inventory accurately. Completes all tasks and documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Assist with annual MA skills days and POCT when required. Acts as a Bonfire expert and teacher. Provides in the moment teaching using Bonfire strategies and model. Models Mason Health s mission, vision, and values, and adheres to policies and procedures and meets productivity standards. Represents a role model for MA staff to emulate Takes a lead role in mentoring and training new and existing staff and students. Demonstrates proficiency in teaching pre-visit planning, patient interaction documentation, and all other workflows and processes. Provides meaningful feedback and performance evaluations for orientees. Mentors MA apprentices, students and externs as assigned. Acts as an electronic medical record (EMR) super user. Assists supervisor/manager in daily duties or projects which include but are not limited to developing daily assignments, addressing employee productivity and competency, quality assurance, and other initiatives. Provides effective leadership in assisting the supervisor/manager in the efficient running of the department. Routinely floats to other areas to maintain proficiency. May help identify and assist with updating work instructions as requested by department supervisor. May be required to work in different departments. Other duties as assigned.Required Education and Experience:
Three years of MA-C experience working in a clinical setting, required Three years of experience providing a high level of customer service in a fast-paced environment, including handling confidential data with discretion, preferred. Six months working experience in Mason Health Clinic within the last four years. Required Licenses, Certifications and/orRegistrations:
State of Washington Medical Assistant Certification Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or within 180 days of hire. Current medical assistant national certification through one of the following:- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- National Health Career Association (NHA)
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) 4.

Exceptional ability to screen and direct patients to appropriate urgent Behavioral Health resources within community. Experience and comfort administering psychiatric medications via injection as needed. Completion of Mental Health First Aid course within 6 months of starting position.Care Coordination:

Working knowledge of medical assistant functions, clinical standards, and clinic practices and procedures. Ability to distinguish emergency patient situations. Knowledge and understanding of age related care as needed for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients with the ability to provide patient care that is appropriate to the age and development status of the patient. Knowledge of medical terminology and medical ethics Excellent interpersonal communication skills: Ability to present information concisely and effectively, verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences. Ability to listen actively and respond to patients and coworkers in a timely, appropriate manner both verbally and non-verbally. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with physicians, coworkers, patients, and families. Ability to present a professional, caring image and demeanor to patients and families. Ability to exercise good judgment, use discretion and maintain confidentiality of privileged information and records. Ability to accept responsibility, work independently, prioritize and manage time and tasks effectively. Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently under pressure. Adaptability; ability to learn, understand, and navigate work processes, terminology, and computer software systems. Ability to read, understand and interpret information from a variety of sources and to understand and follow moderately complex instructions. Ability to perform basic math functions.
