Cheyenne WY Position Summary The Medical Assistant - Drug Screening Specialist is responsible for supporting workplace and clinical drug testing services in a fast-paced occupational health environment. This role involves performing specimen collection, conducting point-of-care drug screenings, and ensuring strict adherence to chain-of-custody procedures and regulatory guidelines. The Medical Assistant will interact with patients and clients in a professional manner while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in all documentation. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and client-specific drug testing protocols, supporting safe and drug-free workplace initiatives. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to follow standardized testing procedures are essential for success in this role. Responsibilities Schedule / Shift Shift details:8:30 am - 4:30 pm 1 Day Event Key Duties Perform specimen collections (urine, saliva, etc.) and conduct point-of-care drug screening tests in accordance with established protocols and procedures. Ensure strict chain-of-custody documentation and compliance with all regulatory requirements (including federal, state, DOT/non-DOT guidelines as applicable). Verify patient/client identity, maintain confidentiality, and accurately document all testing results and processes in required systems or records.
Requirements Education Required:
High school diploma or GED Licenses & Certifications Completion of a Medical Assistant certificate or diploma program (often 9-12 months), or An Associate degree in Medical Assisting or a related healthcare field Skills Strong attention to detail - ensures accurate specimen collection, labeling, documentation, and chain-of-custody compliance. Knowledge of drug testing procedures and compliance standards - ability to follow DOT/non-DOT protocols and regulatory requirements precisely. Professional communication skills - interacts effectively with patients, clients, and supervisors while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Organizational and time management skills - manages multiple screenings efficiently while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
