Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Office Medical Assistant to join our team. This role is essential to ensuring both smooth clinic operations and exceptional patient experiences. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, who is reliable, efficient, and passionate about helping people. You must be able to take initiative, handle a variety of administrative and clinical responsibilities, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Office Management:
Oversee daily office operations, ensuring a smooth workflow and efficient service delivery. Manage patient appointment scheduling, record keeping, billing, and insurance verification. Handle inventory management and ordering of office supplies. Maintain clinic policies, procedures, and confidentiality standards (HIPAA compliance). Supervise and train junior staff or interns as needed, promoting a supportive work environment. Resolve patient inquiries, complaints, and concerns with professionalism and efficiency. Perform data entry tasks accurately, maintaining up-to-date patient records.
Medical Assistance:
Assist the medical provider during patient examinations and procedures. Prepare and administer medications as directed by the provider. Conduct basic diagnostic tests and record patient vital signs. Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, adhering to HIPAA regulations. Ensure proper sterilization, maintenance, and safety of medical equipment. Provide first aid and assist in emergency situations as required.
Front Desk and Customer Support:
Greet patients and manage the check-in/check-out processes. Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and address patient inquiries. Process patient payments and billing inquiries. Proofread and ensure patient forms and documentation are accurate and filed correctly. Provide exceptional customer support, addressing patient needs with professionalism and care.
Clinic Maintenance and Safety:
Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment to meet health and safety standards. Oversee routine cleaning and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Manage waste disposal and ensure proper handling of medical materials. Follow OSHA standards to minimize exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious materials, using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Other Duties:
Assist with additional tasks to support clinic operations, including filing, document management, and supporting staff. Ensure a productive and supportive environment for both patients and clinic staff.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in office management, or related fields is preferred. Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting required. Certification in medical assistance, nursing assistance or nursing is preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology and medical office systems is required. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Proficiency with office management software, medical record systems, and data entry tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to bend, reach, and lift up to 30 pounds as needed. Capability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods during office hours. Manual dexterity required for typing, medical instrument use, and repetitive tasks. Endurance to handle physical tasks, including cleaning and equipment handling.
Work Hours:
Part -time, with flexible hours based on clinic needs (including potential evenings or weekends). Ability to adjust work hours as required by clinic needs, including varying patient volumes and special circumstances.
Expectations:
Maintain professionalism and provide excellent service to patients, staff, and visitors. Adapt to the dynamic nature of the clinic's operations. Meet or exceed performance expectations for both administrative and clinical responsibilities.
Pay:
$15.00 - $18.00 per hour
