Job Description
Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Certified Professional Coder to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical coding and billing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of medical records and facilitating efficient billing practices within our organization. Responsibilities Accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding systems. Review medical records to ensure proper documentation and coding compliance. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in medical documentation. Utilize EMR and EHR systems to manage patient information and coding data effectively. Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations and practices to ensure compliance. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Requirements Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) or 3+ years in medical coding Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred. Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems for effective record management is advantageous. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding coding queries and clarifications. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
