Job Description
Essential Functions:
Meets or exceeds the minimum coding productivity standard for the type of coding performed. (20%) Meets or exceeds the minimum coding accuracy rate of 95%. (20%) Meets or exceeds the Key Performance Standards of timeliness. (15%) Ensures confidentiality of patient information. (15%) Assist with the training of coders. (5%) Completes required coding training or other assigned coding instruction. (5%) Maintains coding credential(s) (5%) Participates in departmental coding and educational meetings, instruction and roundtables. (5%) Review coding guidelines. (5%) Develops and maintains Desk Procedures for assigned areas. (5%)Education:
High School Diploma or GED Required Work Experience:
1-3 years 2 years medical coding by abstracting and assigning diagnosis, procedures and modifiers in a multi-specialty facility. Required or Specialty certification required.Required Licenses:
CPC- Certified Professional Coder
- AAPC
- American Academy of Procedural Coders Required or CCS
- Certified Coding Specialist
- AHIMA
American Health Information Management Association Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
