Job Description

The Medical Records Coder, under general supervision, reviews, analyzes and assures the final diagnoses and procedures as stated by the practicing providers are valid and complete. The MR Coder accurately codes hospital procedures for providers to ensure proper reimbursement by the proper assignment of ICD-9-CDM and ICD-10-CDM, HCPCS, and CPT codes. The MR Coder follows the standards and objectives that relate to Medical Records. They must possess good organizational and computer skills. This position involves indirect patient care for a population of patient's ages newborn through geriatrics. The MR Coder is responsible for the clerical duties and all other duties of the HIM department as assigned.
