Job Description

Inpatient/Outpatient Surgery Coder Table of contents Community Hospital of Anaconda is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Surgery Coder to join our team. This full-time position is responsible for accurate assignment of
ICD-10-CM/PCS
diagnoses and procedure codes, as well as CPT-4 procedure codes for both inpatient and outpatient surgical services. The ideal candidate will ensure coding accuracy, compliance with regulatory guidelines, and timely resolution of all coding-related edits.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assign accurate
ICD-10-CM/PCS
diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient and outpatient surgical cases
  • Assign CPT-4 procedure codes in accordance with current coding guidelines
  • Review medical records thoroughly to ensure complete and accurate code assignment
  • Address and resolve all edits identified during the coding and abstracting process
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations, payer requirements, and organizational policies
  • Collaborate with clinical staff and other departments as needed to clarify documentation
  • Maintain productivity and quality standards
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field or
  • Credentialed as one of the following through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA): o Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or o Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) o Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
  • 2-4 years of relevant inpatient and outpatient surgery coding experience
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 coding systems
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
