Duties:
Reviews Op Notes and properly bill provider Pro Fees Supplies correct
ICD-9-CM /ICD-10-CM
diagnosis codes on all diagnoses provided Supplies correct HCPCS code on all procedures and services performed Supplies correct CPT code on all procedures and services performed Performs a comprehensive review of the chart note to assure the presence of all component parts such as: patient and record identification, signatures and dates where required, and all other necessary data in the presence of all reports which appear to be indicated.
Knowledge of:
Federal laws and regulations affecting coding requirements Extensive knowledge of official coding conventions and rules established by the American Medical Association (AMA), and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for assignment of diagnostic and procedural codes. Abstracting clinical information; translates medical documentation into diagnoses and procedural codes while utilizing currently accepted coding and classification system Use of ICD10, HCPCS, CPT, Professional tools and referencing material
Responsibility, Skills and Difficulty of Work:
Perform coding work requiring independent judgment with speed and accuracy Examining and verifying coding errors through reporting Works independently in the absence of supervision Sequences codes according to established guidelines Thoroughly analyzes and interprets medical information, medical diagnoses, coding/classification systems, to ensure accuracy for prospective payment system reimbursement Performs other related duties, which may be inclusive but not listed in the job description. Participates in departmental needs with billing and answering phone calls.
Education & Qualifications:
High School Diploma Excellent interpersonal skills Computer competency -Experience in pain management or ortho a plus! Rate of pay will be determined by experience and work history!
