Sr ED Coding Specialist The Sr ED Coding Specialist accurately assigns and sequences ICD‑10‑CM/PCS, CPT‑4, and HCPCS codes for inpatient and outpatient records to support compliant billing, reporting, and reimbursement. Key Responsibilities Code and sequence diagnoses and procedures in accordance with ICD‑10‑CM/PCS, CPT‑4/HCPCS, UHDDS, Medicare, Medicaid, and payer guidelines. Utilize computerized encoding systems to ensure accurate and compliant coding. Assign DRGs for inpatient discharges and APCs for outpatient visits. Abstract and verify clinical, diagnostic, and demographic data for all patient encounter types. Routinely code Emergency Department records, including E&M charges, meeting established productivity and quality standards. Code inpatient, outpatient surgery, and ancillary records as assigned. Collaborate with physicians and staff to obtain complete documentation and ensure coding quality. Provide coding and documentation education to physicians and staff as requested. Investigate and respond to coding, documentation, and compliance questions related to ED, observation, infusions, and injections. Maintain productivity standards and a minimum 96% accuracy rate . Complete continuing education to maintain required credentials. Qualifications Required Credentials One of the following: CCS, CPC, COC, RHIA, or

RHIT AHIMA

‑approved coding certificate preferred Experience 4+ years of recent acute care hospital coding experience Successful completion of a coding skills assessment Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
