This role can be performed remotely from certain states provided you have high-speed internet and a distraction-free workspace.

The Remote HIM Senior Inpatient Coder will be responsible for maintaining high-quality, accurateICD-10-CM/PCS
coding for inpatient diagnoses and procedures. Through a thorough review of clinical documentation and diagnostic results, the coder ensures an accuracy rate of 95% or higher. The coder will accurately abstract data into Client's electronic medical record systems, validate patient dispositions and physician data, and adhere to the OfficialICD-10-CM/PCS
Guidelines for Coding and Reporting. You will work collaboratively with the HIM team and Clinical Documentation Specialists to ensure accurate and complete physician documentation to support proper billing and reduce denials. Additionally, the coder may assist in other departmental areas as needed.Job Responsibilities:
Assign accurateICD-10-CM/PCS
codes for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures per official coding guidelines. Review clinical documentation to generate appropriateMS-DRG/APR-DRG
assignments. Extract and abstract required information into Client's electronic medical record system. Validate admit orders and discharge dispositions. Manage and resolve accounts in Epic Work Queues (WQs) and finalize accounts when corrections are made. Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Specialists to ensure proper physician documentation. Uphold HIPAA standards, maintaining confidentiality and promptly reporting any incidents. Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% or higher by consistently following Official Coding Guidelines and Client Health standards. Qualifications Minimum 3+ years' experience in inpatient coding with proven accuracy rate of 95% or higher In-depth knowledge ofICD-10-CM/PCS
codes, with specific toMS-DRG/APR-DRG
assignments Familiarity with coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Active CPC from AAPC or CCS from AHIMA is required Verifiable High School Diploma or equivalent is requiredTechnology:
Experience with Epic or other electronic medical record systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with clinical teams and other departments.
