Responsibilities Review and process medical claims related to behavioral health services using billing software and EMR/EHR systems. Ensure accurate coding using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), and ICD coding standards to maximize reimbursement. Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits, including health insurance knowledge and medical records review. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies and healthcare claims management. Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, medical records, and correspondence with insurance companies. Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation and coding accuracy for all behavioral health services provided. Stay updated on changes in medical terminology, coding guidelines, and billing regulations to ensure compliance and optimize revenue cycle management. Skills Strong knowledge of medical coding including
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG
classifications, and ICD coding standards. Proficiency with billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and Microsoft Office applications for data entry and reporting. Experience with medical collection processes and healthcare claims management to resolve billing issues efficiently. Excellent understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and health insurance policies. Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately and translate it into appropriate billing codes. Exceptional customer service skills to communicate effectively with patients, insurance providers, and internal teams. Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is preferred to ensure seamless integration into our workflow.
