Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical records and ensuring compliance with coding standards. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and the ability to work effectively with electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic health records (EHR) systems. Responsibilities Review and analyze patient medical records to assign appropriate codes using
ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT
coding, and DRG classifications. Ensure accurate documentation of diagnoses, procedures, and services provided to patients. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation or coding. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding regulations, guidelines, and best practices. Assist in medical billing processes by ensuring that claims are submitted accurately and timely. Support medical collections efforts by providing necessary coding information for follow-ups on unpaid claims. Utilize EMR and EHR systems effectively to manage patient records and coding data. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance coding skills and knowledge. Requirements Proven experience in medical coding with a strong understanding of ICD coding, CPT coding, and medical terminology. Familiarity with medical billing processes and medical collection practices is preferred. Previous experience in a medical office setting is highly desirable. Proficiency in using EMR and EHR systems for managing patient information and records. Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills to ensure accurate coding practices. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is a plus but not required.
