An Emergency Medical Director within emergency medical services is a physician who provides guidance, leadership, oversight and continuous quality improvement (CQI) for the practice of local EMTs and paramedics within a predefined area. Typically board-certified in emergency medicine or pediatric emergency medicine. Generally responsible for either the creation of protocols for treatment by prehospital providers or providing leadership to the group of physicians who assist with the provision of medical oversight depending on which model of service delivery and which model of medical control are operating.

ACLS/PALS
certifications. This position will require work at the main campus as well as the associated free standing emergency departments. In addition to working full-time clinical hours, the duties of a lead advance practice clinician include: participation in departmental QA projects, scheduling all APCs, promoting TeamHealth mission and values, orientation and on-boarding of new clinicians, completion of annual evaluations, managing disciplinary and termination procedures as necessary, and monthly metric reporting.
