Job Description

Contract Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) - Emergency Department Donalsonville Hospital | Donalsonville, Georgia Donalsonville Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Contract Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Emergency Department team. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide care across multiple service lines, including the Emergency Department, Behavioral Health Unit (BHU), and inpatient services. The ideal candidate will be comfortable practicing independently, managing a broad range of patient needs, and collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, and behavioral health providers to ensure high-quality patient care.
Schedule:
Monday-Thursday, with one Friday per month
Position Responsibilities:
Emergency Department Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting to the Emergency Department. Order, interpret, and review laboratory tests, imaging studies, and diagnostic procedures. Perform medical screenings, assessments, and treatment plans within scope of practice. Document patient encounters accurately and timely within the electronic medical record. Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to ensure continuity of care. Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) Conduct daily medical rounds on both geriatric and adolescent behavioral health patients. Evaluate and manage acute and chronic medical conditions affecting BHU patients. Perform medical consultations for behavioral health patients as requested. Assess patients for medical stability and provide medical clearance for discharge from the Behavioral Health Unit. Coordinate care with psychiatrists, therapists, nursing staff, and other members of the treatment team.
Qualifications:
Current Georgia licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. DEA registration and prescriptive authority as required. Current BLS and ACLS certifications. Emergency Medicine experience preferred. Previous hospital, inpatient, behavioral health, or urgent care experience preferred. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills.
Pay:
$60.00 per hour
