Emergency Medicine, Paramedic - 50-100% (University Campus) 🔍 Iowa City, Iowa, United States New 📁 Clinical 📅    10 hours ago Post Date 📅    26003426 Requisition # Apply for Job Share this Job Sign Up for Job Alerts The Emergency Department is seeking a 50-100% Paramedic, who under direct supervision of an Emergency Department staff physician and/or Emergency Department Nurse Manager/designee will assist with basic emergency patient care services in the Emergency Department.

Duties to include:

Assists registered nurses and/or LIP's in the delivery of patient care, with regard to patient condition and age. Performs patient care in compliance with the Iowa Department of Public Health Paramedic Scope of Practice related to: Maintaining Airway/Breathing Assessment i. Blood Chemistry Analysis Pharmacological Interventions Emergency Trauma Care i. Cervical Stabilization (manual) Medical/Cardiac Care Completes Point of Care (POC) testing. Provides psychological support to the patient and family based on assessed needs. Communicates any pertinent changes in patient condition or disposition and report unusual incidents. Performs related and routine clerical tasks pursuant to performing the aforementioned duties. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

Graduation from high school, and Current paramedic certification by the Iowa Department of Public Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, and Current course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association, and Current course completion card in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the

American Heart Association Desirable Qualifications:

Minimum of one year of ED or critical care experience (within the last 6 months) Ability to communicate effectively with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient behavior changes Strong written communication skills Customer service experience
