Job Description
Overview Seeking a qualified Medical Director with leadership experience specializing in forensic psychiatry to oversee day-to-day clinical operations and provide expert leadership and support within a mental health forensic setting. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical management, forensics and psychiatric care.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide clinical oversight and leadership for psychiatric services, ensuring quality patient care aligned with organizational goals. Develop and implement clinical protocols in accordance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and FDA guidelines as needed. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize treatment plans and improve patient outcomes. Ensure compliance standards, healthcare management policies, and utilization management protocols. Participate in clinical initiatives and support ongoing professional development activities. Duties The Medical Director will be responsible for upholding the highest standards of psychiatric care while managing operational efficiency: Lead the development of clinical strategies that align with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements Work with Hospital Administration and other team leadership. Ensuring communication across the board for staff members. Monitor adherence to HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient confidentiality and data security Conduct regular reviews of medical records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal standards Manage budgets related to psychiatric services, including resource allocation and cost control measures Coordinate with hospital administration on staffing needs, scheduling, and resource planning Review and complete medical staff evaluations as required. Requirements Candidates must demonstrate a comprehensive skill set that includes both clinical expertise and administrative acumen: Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification in Psychiatry Valid unrestricted medical license in Illinois or the ability to obtain one quickly (current member of compact licensure process) Psychiatric experience specializing in forensic mental health services Proven leadership experience supervising multidisciplinary teams within a healthcare environment Knowledge/experience in utilization management, healthcare management strategies, budgeting, and project management If you are an accomplished psychiatrist with leadership experience seeking an impactful role in healthcare management through a flexible locum/shortterm position, we encourage you to apply.
