What Makes This Role Special As Medical Director, you will balance clinical excellence with leadership , serving as both a practicing veterinarian and a strategic driver of care quality and team development. You'll have the opportunity to: Establish and uphold medical standards across all service lines Mentor and support veterinarians at all experience levels Partner with operations and product teams to improve workflows and technology Help scale Tandem's innovative care model Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership Set and maintain high standards of medical care , ensuring consistent, evidence-based practices across all locations Lead by example through hands-on clinical work , delivering compassionate, high-quality care Oversee complex cases and provide guidance on diagnostics, treatment plans, and outcomes Team Development & Mentorship Mentor Associate Veterinarians and new graduates through coaching, case discussions, and performance feedback Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and collaboration Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of top veterinary talent Medical Operations & Strategy Partner with leadership to develop and refine clinical protocols, workflows, and quality initiatives Collaborate with product and technology teams to optimize Tandem's AI-driven tools and systems Drive process improvements that enhance efficiency, patient care, and client experience Client & Community Impact Ensure exceptional client communication and trust-building across the team Champion Tandem's preventive care philosophy , promoting wellness plans and proactive medicine Represent Tandem's clinical excellence both internally and externally Compliance & Standards Maintain compliance with all regulatory and licensing requirements Ensure adherence to best practices in safety, record-keeping, and medical ethics
Qualifications Education:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an accredited institution
Licensure:
Licensed (or eligible) in
Massachusetts Experience:
5+ years of clinical experience, with prior leadership or mentorship experience preferred
Leadership Skills:
Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop veterinary teams
Clinical Expertise:
Strong diagnostic, medical, and surgical proficiency
Technology Mindset:
Comfort with modern veterinary tools and enthusiasm for AI-driven systems
Communication:
Excellent interpersonal and client communication skills
