What You'll Do:
Children's National Health System and the physicians of the community are launching a Clinically Integrated Network ("CIN") in the region, which is the next step in their journey toward integration and continuous improvement of care delivery, increased value for patients and community, and support of long-term success. The CIN involves close alignment among hospital leadership, employed providers, community providers and payors to understand the opportunities for ongoing quality improvement, better coordinate care, provider satisfaction and a reduction in total cost of care.

The Medical Director will serve as the medical leader, principal clinical communicator, clinical operational architect, and clinical quality control executive of the nascent CIN being developed by Children's National Health System and the community physicians. The Medical Director will work with the CIN Executive Director, Board of Directors and committees in a decision-making and support role to set clinical goals and priorities of the CIN, provide senior medical leadership, develop metrics related to quality and professional practice, and clearly articulate and reinforce the values and goals of the CIN to the network participants.

Expectations - Next 18 MonthsActively lead the development of an engaged network community of primary care and specialty physicians; activities may include speaking engagements at town halls, medical staff meetings, public forums and one on one meetings.

Operationalize the CIN quality and care management structures and staff.

Oversee the clinical aspects of the population health management system design and implementation.

Further develop and implement CIN quality metrics; including benchmarks, performance management and remediation policies and processes.

Oversee the development of the CIN clinical priority population programs.

Provide CIN education to the staff, community, employers, payors, physicians and other stakeholders.

Finalize and implement the quarterly CIN Clinical Management Forum.

Develop a 3-year quality strategic plan.

Identify current gaps, remove barriers and provide solutions to the continued development of the clinical components of the CIN.Collaborate with the Board of Directors and CIN administration to finalize CIN quality expectations and related budgetary considerations.
What You'll Need:
Minimum EducationMedical Doctor (M.D.) MD or DO, prefer some level of active practice. Pediatrics residency training in accredited program. .MBA Master of Business Administration, Master of Health Administration or Master of Public Health preferred. .Minimum Work Experience10 yearsRequired Skills/KnowledgePrevious practice and/or committee leadership positions.

Previous Quality Improvement and/or Peer Review leadership positions, preferably in ambulatory/population management setting.

Entrepreneurial spirit and comfort in developing a new network/business.

Desire and experience in building consensus and leading change.

Credible, known, respected and trusted clinical leader and advisor.

Strong understanding of clinical quality programs and FTC-sanctioned Clinical Integration.

Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring/evaluating evidence-based best practices and clinical standards.

Understand of the provider landscape, as well as areas of opportunity and strength within the network of physicians.

Strong understanding of value-based care and population health foundational elements.

Excellent people management and communication skills, both oral and written.

Able to facilitate, negotiate and/or communicate with a wide variety of clinical and non-clinical stakeholders, front-line staff as well as administrators and Board members.
