About Innerspace Counseling Innerspace Counseling is New Jersey's premier intensive mental health program specialist serving children, adolescents, adults, and perinatal individuals with primary mental health diagnoses. Each of our patients receives individualized, high-quality care through a variety of evidence-based treatments, including but not limited to DBT and CBT. In each program, patients receive a psychiatric assessment and treatment plan, individual therapy, group therapy, family sessions, and medication management. Our goal is to set people on a path toward long-term success and healing through our caring and empowering approach. Position Overview Innerspace Counseling is seeking an experienced and compassionate Psychiatrist to serve as our Medical Director of Psychiatry. This position combines direct patient care with clinical leadership. The Medical Director will provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management for children, adolescents, and adults across our Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), including specialized tracks for General Mental Health, OCD & Anxiety, and Perinatal clients. In addition to providing direct patient care, the Medical Director will oversee psychiatric services, provide supervision for our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs/APNs), and work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of patient care. Clinical Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and determine appropriate levels of care. Provide medication management services for children, adolescents, and adults across our PHP, IOP, and outpatient programs. Complete follow-up psychiatric appointments based on clinical and program needs. Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and weekly treatment team meetings. Collaborate with therapists, nursing staff, families, primary care providers, and other treatment providers to ensure coordinated patient care. Complete peer-to-peer reviews with managed care organizations as needed. Coordinate with the utilization department to ensure sufficient clinical information is available to support treatment authorizations. Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough clinical documentation. Provide psychiatric coverage for other providers as needed. Medical Director Responsibilities Provide clinical leadership and oversight for psychiatric services. Supervise and collaborate with Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs/APNs) in accordance with New Jersey regulations. Collaborate with executive leadership and the multidisciplinary treatment team to support high-quality patient care. Assist with the development and review of psychiatric policies, procedures, and clinical protocols. Support quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements. Serve as a clinical resource for providers and staff on complex cases as needed. Qualifications Minimum of three (3) years of experience providing psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and adults. Previous supervisory, Medical Director, or other clinical leadership experience preferred. Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills. Experience providing medication management across diverse patient populations. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong empathy and ability to connect with patients and families from diverse backgrounds. Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and clinical documentation requirements. Specializations in OCD, Perinatal Wellness, Trauma, or other mental health diagnoses strongly preferred. Education, Licensure & Credential Requirements Required Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school. Completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program. Current unrestricted New Jersey medical license. Current Board Certification in Psychiatry. Current Board Certification in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Active DEA and CDS registration. Experience treating children (ages 8 and older), adolescents, and adults. Strong knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and evidence-based interventions. Familiarity with DSM criteria and crisis assessment techniques. Experience providing medication management services across diverse patient populations. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Comfortable utilizing Electronic Health Records (EHRs). Demonstrated empathy and ability to effectively engage patients and families from diverse backgrounds.
Pay:
$150.00 - $250.00 per hour
