Job Description

St. Vincent's Hospital Westchester, a division of Saint Joseph's Medical Center, has a part-time position for a BC/BE psychiatrist in our Intensive Crisis Residence in Harrison, NY and Evaluation and Referral. The Intensive Crisis Residence (ICR) is a new model of care in New York State designed to provide an alternative to hospitalization for patients who are in crisis but not in need of an inpatient psychiatric facility. The program has around the clock, multidisciplinary staff and significant programming to address the patient needs. The psychiatrist, who serves in the Clinical Director role, provides direct patient care as well as helps to establish and refine clinical programming, policies and procedures. St. Vincent's provides Westchester's broadest continuum of behavioral health services and the ICR utilizes these resources to help stabilize the patients and plan for discharge. In the Evaluation and Referral Service, the psychiatrist will perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations on walk-in and psychiatric emergency clients and transfers from other psychiatric emergency rooms in the area. The physician should feel comfortable with assessing safety, the assignment of inpatient vs. outpatient psychiatric and/or substance abuse services, and the ability to write initial orders including medications as appropriate. Faculty appointment at New York Medical College is possible if interested in teaching in our recently accredited psychiatry residency training program. We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. Board certification is preferred but will consider board eligible. For consideration, please submit your CV to: Carlos Sotolongo, MD, Chief of Outpatient Services, csotolongo@svwsjmc.org.
