Medical Laboratory Technology Director Description of Duties:

Responsible for guiding the Medical Laboratory Program and maintaining full accreditation through the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science. Report directly to the Dean, Health Science Division. Direct and participate in educational planning. Program organization, staffing, training and supervision of both full-time and part-time faculty. Evaluate program faculty and student performance with continuous qualify improvement. Motivate and advise students. Develop and maintain the program budget. Maintain equipment utilized by the program. Select and maintain a list of required textbooks. Update and revise program brochures, webpage and the college catalog. Maintain communication and work cooperatively with clinical instructors at clinical sites. Recruit and maintain members of the program Advisory Committee from the community. The Advisor Committee must meet at least once annually for input and reporting processes. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Dean. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. Provide classroom, laboratory, pre-clinical and clinical instruction. Serve on Program and campus committees.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree. Holds

ASCP-BOC U.S.

generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist. Have three (3) years of teaching experience; has knowledge of education methods and administration as well as current NAACLS accreditation procedures and certification procedures. Strong commitment to education, service and professional growth in Medical Laboratory education. Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal and organization skills. Ability to work under pressure. Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel). Light lifting up to 10 lbs. and light carrying up to 10 lbs. required. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping.

Desired Qualifications:

Master's Degree. Have five (5) years of teaching experience in Clinical Laboratory Science; has knowledge of education methods and administration as well as current NAACLS accreditation and certification procedures; and at least five (5) years of experience in an accredited hospital laboratory.
