Job Summary To Apply for this Job Click Here A leading animal welfare organization is seeking a motivated and experienced Veterinary Medical Director for a high-impact leadership role. This is an opportunity to guide dedicated teams, shape protocols, and deliver compassionate care to a diverse population of animals across multiple service programs. Veterinary Medical Director Benefits & Compensation Competitive salary ( $175,000-$200,000/year ) plus signing and relocation bonuses Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits 401(k) with company match Generous PTO for vacation and continuing education Coverage for dues and license fees Veterinary Medical Director Requirements & Qualifications DVM or VMD degree required Current, or eligibility for, a Pennsylvania veterinary license DEA license and
USDA APHIS
accreditation or the ability to obtain them Minimum 5 years of clinical veterinary experience, with at least 2 years in shelter medicine or high-quality/high-volume spay-neuter surgery Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a veterinary setting Veterinary Medical Director Preferred Background & Skills Experience mentoring veterinarians, technicians, or students Familiarity with digital radiography, modern surgical suites, and in-house labs Experience with animal welfare or community outreach programs Proficiency with veterinary software such as ShelterLuv or Shepherd Lead Veterinarian Day-to-Day Responsibilities Oversee and coordinate veterinary services for shelter, clinic, and mobile unit programs Develop and maintain medical protocols for exceptional care and disease control Perform surgical and medical procedures, including HQHVSN, dentistry, diagnostics, and emergency care Provide oversight for complex medical cases and collaborate on treatment decisions Mentor and guide veterinary staff, students, and externs in professional growth Foster positive relationships with clients, community partners, and internal teams Join a progressive organization making a meaningful difference for animals and the community.
