Hospice Medical Director Designee (1099 Contractor) GRS Hospice, DBA Compassionate Care Hospice San Ramon, CA Job Details Contract 1 day ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Terminal illness counseling Teamwork End-of-life care DEA License Medical License Internal medicine Full Job Description Job Description GRS Hospice, dba Compassionate Care Hospice is seeking a qualified and compassionate physician to serve as the Hospice Medical Director Designee. The Medical Director Designee works collaboratively with the Medical Director and interdisciplinary team to support the delivery of high-quality hospice care and may assume Medical Director responsibilities during periods of absence or unavailability. This position provides clinical consultation, participates in interdisciplinary care planning, and assists in ensuring compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation, California regulations, and ACHC standards. Responsibilities Serve as the designated physician representative in the absence of the Hospice Medical Director. Participate in Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) meetings and patient care conferences. Review hospice eligibility and recertification documentation as appropriate. Collaborate with attending physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other interdisciplinary team members. Provide consultation regarding pain and symptom management. Assist in reviewing and supporting patient plans of care. Support quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives. Participate in regulatory surveys and compliance activities as needed. Promote compassionate, patient-centered end-of-life care. Remain available for physician consultation regarding hospice patients when requested. Experience & Qualifications Active and unrestricted California Physician License (MD or DO). Current DEA Registration. Board Certification preferred. Experience in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Oncology, or related specialty preferred. Knowledge of Medicare hospice regulations and hospice eligibility criteria. Experience working within an interdisciplinary healthcare environment. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to serve as acting Medical Director when designated.
