Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Medical Director to lead our clinical team at our Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) in Justice, IL, through a flexible hybrid consulting model. This pivotal role combines medical leadership, clinical oversight, and regulatory compliance to deliver high-quality, patient-centered Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). The ideal candidate will provide clinical direction to our multidisciplinary team, ensuring the program adheres to all federal ( SAMHSA, DEA, 42 CFR Part 8 ), state ( Illinois
DHS/SUPR

Hybrid Schedule Breakdown On-Site Commitment:
4 to 6 hours per week on-site at our Justice facility. On-site time is primarily focused on required face-to-face initial patient physicals, clinical team meetings, and DEA/CARF-compliant inventory and record reviews.
Telehealth & Remote Work:
6 to 8] hours per week completed remotely via our secure telehealth platform. This includes routine patient check-ins, laboratory reviews, signing take-home exception requests (SMA-168), and virtual consulting with nursing and counseling staff. Responsibilities Provide expert medical leadership and clinical oversight for the OTP, ensuring the safe delivery of methadone and other MAT medications. Conduct mandatory on-site initial physical examinations and clinical assessments for patients enrolling in methadone treatment. Utilize telehealth platforms for routine follow-up medical reviews, dosage stabilization adjustments, and treatment plan updates where permissible by state law. Review laboratory and toxicology results, authorize individualized dosing schedules, and manage the clinic's Diversion Control Plan (DCP). Maintain and uphold CARF behavioral health standards , participating in continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives and supporting the facility during accreditation survey cycles. Supervise and collaborate with medical staff, including nurses and counseling personnel, to ensure an integrated, trauma-informed care model. Oversee medical records management within our EHR system, ensuring absolute confidentiality under 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA . Qualifications Medical degree (MD or DO) with an active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Illinois. Active DEA registration with Schedule II-V privileges. Strong clinical knowledge of addiction medicine, opioid use disorder (OUD) pathology, and harm-reduction strategies. Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and medical records management. Deep understanding of SAMHSA, DEA, CARF, and Illinois
DHS/SUPR
Chapter 77 regulations governing OTPs. Board certification in Addiction Medicine (ABAM/ABPN), Psychiatry, or Family/Internal Medicine is highly desirable. Excellent clinical communication skills and a commitment to patient-centered care.
Pay:
$125.00 - $150.00 per hour
