Description Job Description Lead with Purpose | $300K+ Earning Potential | Pasco, WA Mid-Columbia Pet Emergency Service (MCPES) is a well-established emergency-only hospital serving Washington's Tri-Cities region. Since 1996, we have been the go-to emergency provider within a 2-4 hour radius, offering a wide variety of challenging cases and fostering a collaborative, award-winning culture. Our commitment to team wellness, professional growth, and exceptional patient care has earned us national recognition and made MCPES a supportive and thriving workplace. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Medical Director to lead our dedicated team of emergency veterinarians. The ideal candidate will have strong surgical skills, a commitment to mentorship, and a desire to grow or step into a leadership role that shapes the future of emergency veterinary care at MCPES. As Emergency Medical Director, you will :
  • Provide clinical leadership for emergency and critical care, ensuring high quality medicine, innovation, and an exceptional client experience
  • Oversee development and maintenance of medical protocols, SOPs, patient safety standards, infection control, and medical record quality
  • Partner with the Hospital Director on patient safety concerns, quality improvement initiatives, and hospital strategy, growth, and service expansion
  • Mentor, coach, and develop DVMs and clinical staff through feedback, performance management, and structured development opportunities
  • Support recruitment, engagement, and retention of veterinarians while fostering a collaborative, psychologically safe team culture
  • Participate in and support mentorship programs, including new graduate and ER development initiatives
  • Ensure timely and professional resolution of client and RDVM concerns while strengthening referral relationships
  • Lead doctor meetings and hospital-wide communication to promote transparency, alignment, and engagement
  • Collaborate on operational priorities including budgeting, equipment planning, regulatory compliance, and controlled substances management
  • Represent the hospital in leadership forums and contribute to broader organizational initiatives Why MCPES?

Compensation & Benefits:
  • $300K+ annual earning potential through 23-25% production (no negative accrual) Production bonus-eligible based on collections and eligibility criteria.
  • Guaranteed minimum of 10 shifts/month (day or swing) with $170K base Shift pay: $1,400
  • Day (6am-6pm) $1,400
  • Swing (1pm-1am) $1,600
  • Night (6pm-6am) Medical Director stipend: $1,400/month ($16,800/year) Leadership CE allowance: $2,500 annually
