JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Dosimetrist is responsible for developing precise, individualized radiation therapy treatment plans for patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. This role integrates advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology, radiation biology, oncology, medical physics, and radiation safety to calculate optimal dose distributions that effectively target the intended treatment area while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy structures. Utilizing specialized treatment planning systems (RayStation) and electronic medical record software (Mosaiq), the Medical Dosimetrist applies mathematical and computational methods to determine beam arrangements, dosage, and delivery techniques. Close collaboration with the Radiation Oncologist is essential throughout the planning process to ensure clinical objectives are met and treatment plans are approved. The dosimetrist also works in coordination with the Medical Physicist and Radiation Therapists to support accurate and safe implementation of the prescribed plan. A strong emphasis is placed on accuracy, attention to detail, and patient safety. The Medical Dosimetrist is expected to exercise critical thinking in plan development and evaluation, as well as in identifying and resolving treatment discrepancies or equipment-related issues. This role requires effective communication, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a complex clinical environment.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's in physical orBiological Science Licenses & Certifications:
Medical Dosimetrist Certified Graduate of an accredited dosimetry program Board Certified Medical Dosimetrist (MDCB) OR Board eligible upon graduation. (Licensure must be obtained within one year of graduation.)Work Experience:
