Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician Supervisor to join our team of dedicated veterinary professionals at our fast-paced multi-doctor practice located in Long Beach. Our practice provides high-quality care for our patients with a positive, team-oriented work environment.

Schedule:
Full-Time, Monday to Friday with occasional
Saturdays Salary:

75 per hour As Technician Supervisor you will be responsible for the development, mentorship and retention of the other Veterinary Technicians and Assistants reporting to you. Requirements High school diploma required Fluent in English (reading, writing and oral) 3-5 years of clinical experience Certification required Dentistry skills including extractions Experience in leadership and/or management Why We Need You As a member of our team your mission will be to provide each patient with superb care and win the confidence of our pet parents by delivering an outstanding client experience so they will partner with us for the lifelong care of their companion animals. You've worked hard for your credentialing (RVT, CVT, LVT) and we want you to use the knowledge that you've invested your time and talent in! The skills that you will be utilizing daily include, but are not limited to: Physical examinations and patient assessment Anesthesia monitoring Surgical preparation and assisting Dentistry Radiology Laboratory work Venipuncture Catheter placement Pharmacy Patient recovery Client Communication Compassionate care of our hospitalized animals Compassionate care for our hospitalized patients Maintaining a clean and well-organized treatment area Supervisor Job Details Skills and Abilities Strong communication Able to assist in all departments of the hospital as needed including Pharmacy and Reception Excellent time-management skills and the ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks and projects Able to maintain composure in stressful and emergency situations Strong understanding of protocol management and implementation Attention to detail Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, collaboration and teamwork skills Takes initiative, works independently, exhibits strong decision-making skills and exercises good judgement Demonstrates accountability and dependability Able to be discreet and maintain confidential information Hospital Support Ensure a smooth workflow each day that strives to provide excellent patient care in a timely manner Responsible for creating and releasing the Technician department schedule in a timely manner Responsible for scheduling and leading monthly Technician department meetings Order and maintain the appropriate inventory of medical supplies for the hospital, including Controlled Substances Responsible for maintaining machinery and working with Hospital leadership to ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner Work with Hospital leadership to conduct reviews and create development plans for direct reports Lead or sit-in during disciplinary conversations for direct reports Training Work with the hospital leadership team and Regional Technician Director to develop and implement training tools and development plans Assist with the improvement of patient workflow and help doctors better understand support staff skillset with the goal of improving overall patient care Work with hospital leadership to deliver effective new hire orientation promoting retention of new employees Engage in solution-focused discussions to promote support staff input and collaboration Responsible for the growth and talent development of direct reports Establishing opportunities for student internships and externships to meet educational requirements for the hospital's students Retention Foster enthusiasm for learning and career growth in all staff Foster an inclusive, collaborative and respectful team culture Provide a clear path and encourage career development and progression Why You Should Consider Us At VCA your passion for medicine and compassion for pets and people is matched with a commitment to your professional growth: Enjoy exposure to a diverse and stimulating caseload Employing the most advanced imaging and monitoring tools Tap into the expertise of more than 4,500+ doctors
